＜外部形態＞

　体長約140mm、体幅7mm、体節数約90。剛毛は受精嚢孔域に約40本。第一背孔は第10/11体節間溝。環帯は第14〜16体節を占め、剛毛を欠く。受精嚢孔は2対で、第7、8体節の前端近くにある。受精嚢孔と同一線上の第6/7/8体節間溝に、1〜2個の性徴がある。雌性孔は第14体節の中央に1つ。雄性孔は第18体節に存在し、突起状型。雄性孔間剛毛は14本。雄性孔の内側の剛毛線前後に1つずつの性徴がある。個体によっては、雄性孔のすぐ後ろにもう1つ性徴が存在する。

＜内部形態＞

　隔膜は5/6/7/8、10/11/12/13/14で厚く、8/9/10は欠く。腸管は第15体節から始まる。腸盲嚢は第26体節に開始し、第21体節に達する。腸盲嚢は鋸歯状型で、背面に小突起がある。

　受精嚢は2対で、第7、8体節に存在する。受精嚢の内側に瓶状単生殖腺があり、通常片側3個ずつ。貯精嚢は第11，12体節に存在する。卵嚢は存在する。摂護腺を欠く。雄性孔の前後に瓶状単生殖腺がある。

　愛媛県宇和島と茨城県大洗で採集されている (Goto & Hatai, 1899)。これ以降の確実な記録は見当たらない。

　Nakamura (1999) はコガタミミズという和名を提案しているが、同年 3 月に先に出版された Ishizuka (1999b) は Metaphire florea に同名のコガタミミズを命名しており (Nakamura [1999] は 12 月に出版)、先取権のルールを適用すると、本種の和名の変更が必要であり、和名不明とした。

　原記載以降の採集記録はない。

　かつてフキソクミミズのシノニムとされた (Beddard, 1900; Ishizuka, 1999a)。形態はフタツボシミミズに酷似するが、原記載の図・文章共に受精嚢孔が第 7，8 体節上にあることが明示されている点で明らかに異なる。体節数のカウントミスである可能性もあり、タイプ標本が残存していれば形態学的な再検討が可能であったが、タイプ標本が失われてしまったと考えられている今、この問題の解決は困難である。

　Beddard (1900) は本種を tokioensis のシノニムとしたが、その後独立種とされることが多い (Michaelsen, 1900; Easton, 1981; Blakemore, 2003)。なお、Blakemore (2003 addenda) は疑問符付きで tokioensis のシノニムとしている。Blakemore (2007e, 2010a, 2012e) は疑問符付きで tokioensis のシノニムとしながら同時に [] 付きで独立種としても記述しているため、Blakemore 氏による本種の帰属は不明である。

　原記載から、受精囊孔が体節間溝ではなく 第 7-8 体節の後縁に近い部分に開口し、第 18 体節の性徴は雄性孔より内側の剛毛線前後にある。これらの特徴は tokioensis と合致しないため、独立種とすべきである (南谷, 私見)。ただし、今後新たな標本を得て詳細な検討が必要である。
