　全長 30-50 mm (Latif et al., 2009)、体幅 2-3 mm (Latif et al., 2009)。

　環帯は第 26, (27)-31, (32) 体節まで (Latif et al., 2009)。思春期隆起は第 29-30 体節 (Latif et al., 2009)。

Pakistan, Madagascar, Turkey, USSR

　主に森林の有機物層 (Zuck, 1951; Bösener, 1965; Jänsch et al., 2013)、堆肥の中 (Lehmitz et al., 2014)、森林の中の流れの早い小川のそば (Julka, 1981) などに生息する。汚泥のような湿った土壌や (Smith, 1917)、倒木の下 (Smith, 1917)、倒木の樹皮の下 (Julka, 1981)、落葉の堆積した塚 (Smith, 1917)、岩に生えた苔の中 (Julka, 1981)、雪の中 (Julka, 1981)、牛の糞の中 (Julka, 1981) などから採集されている。ただし、Palouse地方では数地点から発見されているものの、保全農地からは採集されなかった (Fauci & Bezdicek, 2002)。

　台湾では標高 2600-3000 m (Shen et al., 2013)、インドでは標高 1300-3200 m (Julka, 1981) で採集されている。

　アメリカ合衆国北部では、ビニールハウス内から採集されることが多い (Gates, 1966)。

　表層性種 (Lehmitz et al., 2014)。

　Easton (1983) は、本種をrubidus、norvegicus、subrubicundus、tenuis の 4 亜種に分けている。

　新島・八木 (1992) は本種の和名をアカムラサキミミズとした。
